SUMMARY

For more than eighteen months, hundreds of communities of the lower Atrato region were confined in Pavarandó, a village in the Department of Antioquia that, after the arrival of these families from the Chocó, became the largest camp of displaced persons in Colombia. Anita remembers how, far from her river, her potential for leadership emerged as she took on initiatives to help her community maintain hope.
